Blog Post 28// Psalm 91 Part 4
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. Psalm 91:3
I ended yesterday talking about how the rest of this psalm is nuts. I mean that in the best of ways. Let’s keep at it. After the dwelling in God’s presence and talking of His faithfulness to others,
The blessing of God is like a downpour. Eyes are opened, deaf ears hear, lame leap for joy, there’s water in the wilderness, streams in the desert. It’s a complete avalanche of God’s goodness.
Why am I telling you this? Because death and life are in the power of YOUR tongue. You actually have the power to see what you say when you believe by faith, put your trust in your God and open up your mouth.
When you declare over your family, neighbors and friends the goodness of the Lord, expect to see the goodness of the Lord!
Stand with each other in times of weakness, speaking right things to one another. Ephesians 5. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Speak life, words of faith and courage over others and watch it bring and release the hand of God into that person's life.
On to verse 3:
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence.
I like this surely He shall line. It rolls off the tongue well. Makes my faith rise up.
If you find yourself trapped or in a not-so-good place, will God come through? Surely He shall. The enemy is constantly setting up traps for believers. He wants to keep you stuck, bound and not living to the fullest. If that’s where you find yourself, there is no shame, no condemnation.
Jesus has the key to every lock and the tools to dismantle every trap. In fact, as Deliverer, it is His privilege to not just set you free, but to then reset the trap for the enemy himself! Surely He shall!
Psalm 57:6 says
For they have set a trap for me.
Frantic fear has me overwhelmed.
But look! The very trap they set for me
has sprung shut upon themselves instead of me!
This is a regular prayer of mine:
Jesus, help me spot any traps set for me.
The temptation is to be negative, get offended, react prematurely, and retaliate—Lord, let the enemy fall into that very trap instead of me.
Amen.
