Blog Post 30// Isms -- Part 2

This is post 30. I was trying to think of a clever name: 30 Something (most people won’t remember that show), 30, flirty and thriving (from one of my wife’s favorite movies), 30 for 30 (copyrighted)—let’s just go with Post 30.

And in honor of 30, I’d like to add more isms to the list. For part 1 of this list, go here. Here’s what I’ve learned, what I like and what I don’t. Maybe this will help you, make you smile or something else altogether. Let’s go!

12. Listen more than you talk. You will learn so much more and your responses will be more thoughtful and helpful.

13. Turning 30 was hard for me. 40 was not. Conclusion: I have no idea. Let’s see what happens at 50 and then I’ll get back to you.

14. I waited too long to try sushi. So, don’t put off till tomorrow what you can do today.

15. Come up with a system with your spouse to help when you’re talking to someone but have forgotten their name. Ours goes like this: If I’m talking to someone and Amy walks up in the middle, I’ll say, “This is my wife, Amy.” If i say that, she knows to say, “Hi, what’s your name?”

16. Do better at remembering people’s names. :) Man, this matters so much.

17. Becoming more self-aware is key to pretty much every relationship you have.

18. You can be someone who complains or someone who prays. You can’t be both.

19. If you are good at Jeopardy, people will think you are really smart.

20. Be a good tipper at restaurants. That said, I refuse to tip in the drive thru at Starbucks.

21. The 1970’s weren’t 30 years ago, the 1990’s were. I hate this so much.

22. If you base every choice on how you’re feeling, you’ll be mean, alone and unhealthy.

23. Be loved the most by people who know you best.

24. If laughter is an instant vacation, go on vacation everyday.

25. In honor of Tim Keller: “If Jesus rose from the dead, then you have to accept all that He said; if He didn't rise from the dead, then why worry about any of what He said? The issue on which everything hangs is not whether or not you like his teaching but whether or not he rose from the dead.”
