Blog Post Eleven// God is Slow — Part 1

Patience is becoming harder and harder. How spoiled are we that we can get pretty much anything we want delivered—and delivered fast. It’s not even just two days or less anymore, sometimes it’s just two hours. Incredible. Cities are testing and using drone delivery and I am mad that my city isn’t one of them.

Man, do I love the convenience, but it’s trained me to hate the waiting. Any kind of waiting.

Where is the server?
Does anyone work here?
There are no other registers open?
It will take how long??? That’s unacceptable.

I time trips to the airport so I can get there with just enough time to walk on the plane. Some of you love being there hours early, moving as slow as possible. Bleh.

I’d rather run through the airport stressed out than sit there stuck.

Fast is my best friend.

I like hanging with him more often than not. But he’s a bad influence. Because of him I’m short with people, I miss out on genuine connection and have forgotten how to wait.

This is trouble because God seems to love the waiting. He never upgrades His shipping or His boarding number. He doesn’t have Prime. He is never in a hurry, at least as I understand it. I tend to think He is slow. But Peter said God isn’t slow like we define slow. He is patient. There’s a method to His “slowness.”

He’s slow on purpose!?? I wonder why.

I guess I’ve realized that when I am impatient, I never do act like Jesus. Hm. There’s something to that, isn’t there? I’m going to think about this some more.

But let’s talk tomorrow. My best friend is calling and we’ve got things to do…
