Blog Post 25// Psalm 91

A little of Psalm 91. In the New King James. Feeling a little old school today…

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1

He who dwells—He that sits down in, remains, makes himself at home with God—Where? In the secret place. Sounds mysterious. It’s a secret? Kind of. Not everyone can know about it.

Let me drop this thought on you:
God is inviting you to someplace exclusive. It’s found on a narrow road. It’s a sort of discovery mission. He wants you to seek and find out more of who He is.

Why is it a secret? Because not everything is invited there. There are some things not allowed to remain. Fear can’t remain. Disease can’t remain. Pride can’t stay. Despair won’t make it there. Complacency gets lost along the way.

The Almighty is inviting you and I to a place beyond what is natural. He is asking, “Will you come find me in the secret place?”

As Parents, when we play hide and seek with our kids, we never stay hidden so that our kids can’t find us (Some days we want to). But how frustrating would that be for them? It’s our joy to not stay hidden but to allow ourselves to be found. The look on their faces is priceless. But then why not just stay in full view of our kids at all times?

Why “play” at all?

Because there is a certain type of joy that only happens through discovery. A type of intimacy or gladness that only happens through finding what you are looking for.

If you’ve been feeling like God is hiding from you—or you’re not seeing Him at work. Perhaps He is inviting you to a secret place?

God is not hiding from you to not be found. He is hiding so that He can be. And I just wonder if that joy in discovering where He is “hiding” is what you’ve been missing.
