Blog Post 44// Fear the Lord and Walk in His Ways

Psalm 128 says that it is more than possible to see God’s kingdom realized on the earth. Watch where it starts:

"Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways.” Psalm 128:1

It all starts with the person who fears God and walks in His ways, that leads to

When you eat the labor of your hands,
you shall be happy, and it shall be well with you. vs. 2

Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the very heart of your house,
 your children like olive plants
all around your table. vs. 3

Your marriage is like a healthy vine. I like it.

Then you've got these amazing, happy little olive plants that won’t stop eating but that’s okay because you have enough to feed them.

Behold, thus shall the man be blessed
 who fears the Lord.
The Lord bless you out of Zion, and may you see the good of Jerusalem
all the days of your life. Yes, may you see your children’s children.
Peace be upon Israel! vs 4-6.

So what happens after we fear the Lord and walk in His ways? The blessings come out of your home, then your city, and then peace will be upon the country.

And how the country is doing can have positive shock waves all across the world.

So, let’s think about it like this for a second:

Broken homes lead to broken communities.

It’s okay to say that. God designed it to be a certain way.

Brokenness in the home, in any form, leads to broken communities. It can be a broken relationship or even personal brokenness.

Listen. I know all circumstances are different. There are all sorts of challenges. It’s not always possible to have a God-fearing mom and dad at home.

No one denies that.

My point is that in all our brokenness, we have to commit to strengthen our homes. We have to commit to strengthen our marriages..

How we bring hope to a broken world is not by staying broken ourselves and saying,

Well, that’s just who I am, that’s the way it is. One day Jesus will come.

No, we can grow and stand strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. We can go from broken to whole to display God’s amazing ability to put people back together again so that other’s might know,

Your situation isn’t impossible. You don’t have to be stuck. You don’t have to repeat the cycle of the generation before you.

So while it seems painfully obvious when you look at it, the answer coming from culture is always going to be wrong.

More laws! Not loving fathers who are God-fearing.

Dads, we’ve been relegated to unimportant in the home by this culture. We are idiots on TV shows. Many times even the spiritual things in the home are led by moms.

I heard this: An unspiritual father will often produce unsaved children, and unsaved children will build an unstable state.

There is something so powerful about men who fear the Lord and walk in His ways. Psalm 128 says it’s more far-reaching than you think.

Dads and moms, what would it look like if we committed to lead the way in this.

Love your kids. Pray for them. Pray with them. Spend time with them. Be affectionate with them. Model what it is to walk in the ways of the Lord. It matters so much and it’s the way God designed it to be.

Strong families.
Strong marriages.
Strong souls.

That changes the world.
