Blog Post Three// Don’t Miss Your Moments
God works differently than we think—that’s true. But that doesn’t mean He is completely unpredictable either.
Yeah, that sounds right, right? Here’s why: God isn’t trying to stay unknown. He is not actively playing catch me if you can and then changing the rules when you get close. He’s not out to keep you guessing when and where He’ll come through next.
I’ll admit that sometimes when God moves:
-It's counterintuitive.
-It doesn't always make sense.
-The timing feels late.
-It’s not what we’d have done.
This messes with our brains a bit. Mine especially. I say things like:
“God does what He wants—when He wants...”
“God uses unlikely people in unlikely places…”
And I do believe this. There are too many stories that prove it. But I can’t deny that He keeps showing up in the likely places, too.
There are just too many stories of the likely encounters, too. The “God met me right where I was, right when I asked” moments.
There’s an unpredictable side of God, yes, a mysterious and “what in the world is happening right now?” side.
But then there’s this incredibly predictable, rock-solid reliable side. When the when and where are more here and now.
I believe these are the moments God can’t stay away from. His FOMO takes over. When:
-We worship
-Our hearts are pure (Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God)
-We are humble (There is always grace for the humble)
-We join with fellow believers (just two or three gathered in the name of Jesus)
-We obey His word, especially when it’s hard (John 14:23)
-We face tragedy (The Lord is close to the broken-hearted)
-We fail (Call upon the name of the Lord and be saved)
-We face uncertainty (If you lack wisdom, ask and I will give it to you)
Nothing mysterious there. Just moment after moment of God showing up. Catch Him there, because you always can. He makes sure of it.
