Blog Post 21// Work Hard

I’ve been living in the book of Nehemiah this week. As I looked back at some notes I jotted down, I found these 5 things. I don’t know where they came from. If they came from you and you ever read this, tell me!

It was simply called:

Work Hard//

To work hard (and succeed), do these 5 things:

  1. Get a Vision//

Nehemiah saw the wall first in his mind before he ever started the “work.” See it clearly so you know where you’re aiming.

2. Build a Team//

You’ve heard the African proverb:

If you want to go fast, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.

Nehemiah formed his team and gave each person a task. And let’s be honest, most of the time it’s more about who you are going with than where you are going. At the very least, you’ll have a lot more fun with the right people.

3. Stay Positive//

He never let resistance rob his resolve. He didn’t let setbacks steal his joy. There are too many negative people around. Don’t be one of them. Don’t hang with them too long either—they rub off on you too easily.

4. Create Benchmarks//

He tracked his progress. You should track yours. Be like me: Add something to the list that you’ve already done just to scratch it off. There’s just something about that feeling.

5. Avoid Distraction//

He refused to get “off mission.” He said:

I am doing a great work and I cannot come down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and come down to you?

If it’s worth doing, work hard. What in your life may benefit from these 5 things?
