Blog Post 23// Heaven
There are a lot of questions about Heaven. What’s it really like? Where is it? Is it a “second start to the right, straight on till morning” kind of thing? My kids talk about Heaven. Pools filled with ice cream and candy. And they don’t have to go to bed early.
Let me try and answer a few things off the bat that people ask:
Are there pets? There are animals there for sure. Not cats.
Why gates? Is the neighborhood not safe? Will I need a passcode? Try a lot of sevens. The gates are ornate. Beautiful. Made of single pearls. No, Peter won’t be the bouncer.
Are we married? No. But don’t tell my wife that. She doesn’t like this part. We are working on a secret signal to remind each other how we were each other’s favorite on earth. The truth is. We will be one with Jesus and have no need to be married.
What do angels look like? Do they have wings? We don’t see that on all angels in scripture. Most are mistaken as men. Wings are mentioned on some cherubim. But it seems like it’s more symbolic. So I guess no flying in heaven…
BUT there does seem to be this idea of moving quickly to other locations. Jesus just appeared. Phillip was transported 20 or so miles away in an instant. This excites me.
Is it just harp music? Revelation Song the whole time? I don’t think so. Why should the devil have all the good music? Thank you, Larry.
Here is what you need to know:
Heaven is a real place.
Not figurative. Not a state of mind. But real. We don’t know as much about what it looks like now but the Bible speaks of a New Heaven and New Earth quite a bit. And in the New Heaven...
The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia (about 1400 miles) in length, and as wide and high as it is long. Revelation 21:16
It’s like a cube. From New York to Miami on one side. Covered in pure gold and jewels. Translucent. Light shining because of the glory of God. I hope you like windows.
Heaven is a real place. Jesus is there now getting it ready.
I’ll be honest. I can’t wait! Home sweet home.
