Blog Post 47// Fix Your Frame
By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. Hebrews 11:3
In construction, we know that the frame is important. Does the house have good bones? How is the frame?
Or for you home decor experts. The frame is important for a picture. The wrong frame can ruin a picture.
When God created the world, there weren’t any materials He could find more sufficient, stronger than His very word.
What would be lasting?
What would stand the test of time?
What is there that better shapes and forms and creates?
Well, My word.
There’s nothing like it. The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the Word of the Lord stands forever.
The same substance that God used to frame THE world, He says I can use to frame mine.
In order to fix your frame, to be in the right frame of mind, you’re going to have to choose what you allow in.
What are you focused on?
I can’t always choose what’s happening around me.
But I can choose my focus.
At any given time, you may be faced with:
Fear
Rejection
Anxiety
Chaos
Sometimes you can’t make them go away. I’ve tried. They don’t always move.
What I can do is FOCUS elsewhere.
Fear, rejection, obstacles may be near. But they don’t have to get your focus.
Because what you focus on will directly affect the level of your faith.
Let me say it a different way:
Focus is adapting to the prevailing level of light to enable us to see clearly.
Whatever I shine light on I’ll see more clearly. Whatever I see more clearly will prevail. Worship is shining a light on the nature of God.
I need to to see Him more clearly in order that my problems don’t prevail.
When we worship, we are choosing to fix our focus.
-Your problems are big.
-Your God is bigger.
-Your issues are strong.
-Your God is stronger.
Sometimes we close our eyes to get certain things or people out of the frame.
Sometimes we look up as a symbol that we need something higher than ourselves.
We read and sing lyrics that remind us that everything hinges on the cross of Jesus.
Jesus said, if you want to build a framework that is strong. Something you can build upon. Frame it out like this:
-Pray in your closet.
-Give when no one is watching.
-Serve and expect nothing in return.
-Love when they don’t deserve it.
-Forgive no matter what.
-Devote more time to the presence of God in order to experience the power of God.
That will create the right frame of mind and make sure you are focused in the right place. This is loving God with all your mind.
Peter started to sink walking on the water because he allowed the wind and waves into his frame.
Jesus’ response: if I am right in front of you, why are you looking left and right? Why are you thinking about anything else? You honor me with your attention.
What are you allowing in?
This most definitely applies to safeguarding your inputs.
What are you hearing?
What are you looking at?
What voices are loudest in your life?
Is there too much noise?
If you focus too much on the wind and waves of culture, you’ll miss the nearness of His presence. It's what happened to Peter.
