Blog Post One// Firsts Matter
Firsts matter. Right?
At least that’s what we are told growing up. First words, first day of school, first girlfriend, first time to Disney blah blah. Being first to something motivates—but I’m not sure it’s always best.
Sure, it may have some significance. We remember firsts. Firsts get the press, the attention, the higher platform. Few remember fourths. Alan Bean was the fourth person who walked on the moon and set 11 world records in aeronautics and space exploration as a NASA astronaut. We don’t mention him as much as Neil or Buzz.
I like to win and I like to be first. I think Jesus agrees—mostly. “Yeah! I’m good with it. Work hard and be first! First to listen. First to give up your spot. First to love. First to learn something new. First to change your thinking. First to say ‘I’m sorry’. Be first at going last.”
Maybe first is best. No offense, Alan.
